Main service

Interior lighting and LED spotlights

We install new light fittings and spotlights where you need them: a row of recessed spotlights in a plasterboard ceiling above the kitchen worktop, a surface-mounted spotlight where you read, or a pendant light above the dining table. LEDs use significantly less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and have a long lifespan. We deliberately choose a warm light colour for living areas and a cooler one for the study or garage, so that the lighting suits how you use the room. We conceal the wiring and align the spotlights neatly in a straight line.

Lighting strips, mood lighting and bathroom lighting

A continuous LED strip in a recess, indirect lighting along a wall or a line above the mirror adds depth to a room. We recess the profiles so that only the light is visible. Strict AREI volume regulations apply in the bathroom: for each zone around the bath and shower, the law specifies the permitted IP rating and voltage. We install your bathroom lighting with the correct IP protection for that zone, ensuring it is safe and passes the inspection.

Outdoor and garden lighting

A wall light that switches on as soon as you get home, ground spotlights that show off your plants, or spotlights along the driveway: outdoor lighting makes your home safer and more visible. Outdoors, we use fittings with an IP rating of at least IP65, so they can withstand water jets. We install garden lighting on a 230V supply for greater brightness, or via a transformer at 12V low voltage, which means the cable trenches do not need to be as deep. We bury the cables at the correct depth using moisture-resistant, protected cabling.

Dimming and 6% VAT

If you want to dim your LED lighting, we'll replace your old dimmer with an LED-compatible trailing-edge dimmer. A standard dimmer made for incandescent bulbs won't work with LEDs and causes flickering or humming. Worth knowing on price: if we supply and install the recessed fittings ourselves in a property over 10 years old, that work falls under the reduced VAT rate of 6%. Standalone pendant lights, surface-mounted spotlights and track lighting stay at 21%, as they aren't permanently fixed to the building.
