Inspection & AREI

Getting your installation ready for inspection and putting right any faults after a failed inspection.

What we do

Our inspection & arei services

Main service

When you need an inspection

An inspection is a legal requirement in a number of situations. Ahmed will go through these with you to see which ones apply and ensure that everything is ready on time. Without a positive inspection report, Fluvius will not connect a new installation to the mains, and without the report, the solicitor cannot execute the deed of sale.

  • When selling a property: the report has to be in place for the notarial deed
  • Before a new or upgraded installation is connected to the grid
  • After a major change or extension to the connection
  • Periodically: a conformity report for a home is valid for 25 years

Getting your installation ready for inspection

Before the inspection body comes round, Ahmed goes over your whole installation and brings it into line with the AREI. That way you avoid a failed inspection and the cost of a re-inspection. He works carefully, with as little damage as possible, and hands your consumer unit back to you neat and clearly labelled.

  • Checking the consumer unit, circuit breakers and RCDs
  • Checking the earthing and the earth resistance
  • Tidying up the consumer unit and clearly labelling each circuit
  • Drawing up or updating the single-line and layout diagrams

Rectifying non-conformities following a rejection

A negative inspection report is a list of issues that need to be resolved. Give the report to Ahmed, and he will go through it with you and rectify each identified non-conformity. The accredited inspection body will then visit again for a re-inspection, so that you can still obtain a certificate of conformity. He will rectify any defects properly, with neat cable finishing.

  • Going through the report together, point by point
  • Resolve any identified non-conformity in accordance with the AREI
  • Schedule the re-inspection and follow it up until you have a certificate of conformity

The role of the electrician and the accredited inspection body

Ahmed carries out the work and prepares your installation for inspection. The accredited inspection body carries out an independent inspection and issues the official inspection report. These roles are legally separate from one another. Ahmed liaises with the inspection body, helps to schedule the visit and ensures that the installation and the relevant documents are ready on the day of the inspection.
