A single system for lighting, climate control, sun protection and security.

What we do

Our home automation services

Main service

What home automation actually does

Home automation links your lighting, climate control, shading and security to a single control point. In practice, that means your roller shutters lower automatically when the sun hits the windows too hard, your heating comes on room by room to a set schedule, and one press switches off all the lights downstairs when you head to bed. You control it all from a wall button, a central screen or an app on your phone. You don't have to make everything smart at once. We start with whatever gives you the most comfort or security and build it out later.

  • Dimming and switching lights, in scenes, indoors and out
  • Controlling heating and air conditioning room by room to a schedule
  • Roller shutters and external blinds that respond to sun and wind
  • Access and security: door entry, smart lock, cameras, motion and fire detection

Wired or wireless: it depends on your situation

A wired bus system runs over separate control wires (the bus) to each control point. It's the most reliable option and easy to expand later, but you're best laying the cabling in a new build or a major renovation, while the walls are open anyway. If you have an existing home and don't want to break everything open, there are wireless systems that work without any extra cable. On a renovation, I'll look with you at what's feasible with as little breaking work as possible. One thing it's only fair to say: the choice of system is hard to reverse. Switching over completely afterwards costs far more than getting it right the first time. So we take the time up front to weigh up what suits your home and your plans.

  • Wired: reliable and expandable, ideal for a new build or major renovation
  • Wireless: for existing homes, without major breaking work
  • Best to settle the choice of system up front

Managing energy and tying into your electrics

Every Fluvius digital meter has a P1 port. That lets your home automation system read your live consumption and, for example, stagger heavy loads to avoid peaks. You activate the port free of charge through the Fluvius customer portal, which takes up to 72 hours. Many systems run locally in your home, so your controls keep working if the internet drops. Some functions, like weather data or remote control, do need internet. Because I lay your ordinary electrics too, the home automation goes straight into the same consumer unit, with neat wiring and labelled circuits. As an electrical installation, home automation falls under the AREI and therefore has to pass the inspection.

  • Read the P1 port for energy management, free to activate with Fluvius
  • Runs locally, keeps working if the internet drops
  • Built into your consumer unit and inspected to AREI

Grants and VAT

For renovation work on a home more than ten years old, 6% VAT applies instead of 21% when a contractor supplies and fits the work, including the electrical installation. On top of that, the Mijn VerbouwPremie scheme offers support for preparatory work on electrics and plumbing. Whether your home automation qualifies depends on the nature of the work and your income bracket, and the rules change from 1 March 2026. Check your situation on premiezoeker.be or through Mijn VerbouwLoket before you do the sums. I'll give you a proper invoice you can use for it.
